Milky Way Photography with Colin Chatfield

Meet at Long Creek Golf and Country Club's Clubhouse and watch famous Saskatchewan photographer, Colin Chatfield's presentation about night photography. Afterward, we will be shooting on the golf course and milky way at the Avonlea Badlands. All this for only $50/person. Bring a flashlight or headlamp, tripod, camera capable of long exposures, and warm clothing. You must be able to carry your gear 2 kilometres. There are a limited number of spots, so contact the museum to book yours today. Hope to see you there!

Dirt Hills Hike

This is a U-drive, 32 km roundtrip from the museum to native prairie pasture. Once there, we will hike 1.5 km roundtrip on beautiful native prairie to see the sacred Effigy of Man. Please remember to bring walking shoes, a hat, water, sunscreen and insect repellant.

Doc Dunnet Day

Who was Doc Dunnet? He was the medical doctor for Avonlea and district from 1912-1957. The museum is researching this most respectable character of our history. You can take part in the festivities during afternoon tea at 2pm, or celebrate with us at the wine & cheese at 7:30pm. We encourage you to come dressed from his era, or perhaps enter his look-a-like contest and enjoy the festivities!

  • Doc Dunnet Skit by Jaida & Tanner (2 performances - one during Tea, one during Wine & Cheese)
