Fall Supper

Come to the Avonlea Community Hall for some delicious home cooking. This is our first fall supper in the new hall attached to the rink and we are excited!Stay afterward for the Halloween Cabaret to be put on by the Avonlea Volunteer Fire Dept.

Vendors: Charlene Forrest - Various cinnamon buns, butterhorns, The BEST chocolate chip cookies, bacon wrapped jalapenos and stuffed potatoes; Charles Sudom - Jerky, tarts, strawberries, honeydew melons, baby potatoes; Kinley - eggs, cukes, zucchini.  Come and check out what we have in the last market day of the season.

Dirt Hills Archeo Tour

Learn some local history at archaeological sites on this tour in the rolling Dirt Hills near Avonlea. U-drive this guided, 60 km roundtrip from the museum (high-clearance vehicle recommended). Experience the sights, sounds and smells of the prairie at the Man Effigy while stunning views from the Claybank Ceremonial Circle leave you breathless.

Avonlea Badlands Shadows and Moonlight

This tour follows Colin Chatfield's Night Photography Class, so you may want to attend both. After a supper break, we will meet at the museum before heading to the Avonlea Badlands to catch the sunset and then we will stay for the moonrise and get some night shots. Adults $15, Students $7.50. Bring a camera capable of long exposures, a tripod and a flashlight or headlamp (preferred). You must be able to carry your gear 2 kilometers.

Night Photography with Colin Chatfield

Learn about taking photographs at night with famous Saskatchewan photographer Colin Chatfield. This 90 minute class will explain the process of night photography for only $35.  After an hour supper break, join us for a tour to the Avonlea Badlands to catch the sunset and some moonlight.

Heritage Kids Avonlea Trivia

Bring the whole family down to the museum to partake in some Avonlea trivia. Jaida, Tanner and Micah have some trivia that may be of interest to the young and young at heart. Children will also be painting rocks and having sack races.

Heritage Kids Dough Day

 You knead to check this out! The museum is hosting another Heritage Kids Day with a dough theme. Children will be making playdough and will take home samples as well as make and taste biscuits. Stories from seniors will accompany this event.

Heritage Kids Water Day

Bring your children to the museum for some fun with water! Jaida and Tanner will entertain them with activities that are both historical and fun. Please make sure they don't have watches, cell phones or electronics with them and it would be good if they were wearing sandals or flip flops and maybe bring a towel.
